New Home Orientation Walk Through

When: About a week before your closing.

Your new home is almost ready — congratulations! The orientation walk-through is your opportunity to see your home completed, learn how everything works, and ensure it meets your expectations before closing day.

Meet Your Builder Representative

You’ll be guided by a knowledgeable team member who will walk you through the home’s features, systems, and finishes. Their goal is to make sure you’re comfortable and confident in your new space.

Learn How Your Home Works

During this appointment, you’ll:

  • Learn how to operate key systems such as heating, cooling, ventilation, and water shut-offs
  • Review appliance manuals and warranties
  • Discuss maintenance tips to help protect your investment
  • Understand what’s covered under your home warranty

This is the perfect time to ask how-to questions so you can feel confident caring for your home from day one.

Quality Review

Together, you and the builder representative will walk room-by-room to:

  • Confirm that all agreed-upon features are complete
  • Note any final touch-ups or minor items to be addressed before closing
  • Review surfaces, finishes, and function of fixtures and systems

Everything noted will be documented so the builder team can finalize items before you move in.

Celebrate the Milestone

This is an exciting step — your home is almost yours! Many clients find this walk-through to be the most rewarding part of the journey: seeing months of planning and dreaming come to life.

Helpful Tips

  • Plan for about 60–90 minutes for your walk-through.
  • Bring a notebook or take photos if that helps you remember details.
  • If more than one person will live in the home, try to have everyone attend so you can all learn together.
